Members Spotlight: Red CardDate Posted: 02 April 2019
This month for our member's spotlight we spoke to Tony Kelly, Managing Director and Founder of Red Card Gambling Addiction Support
Tell us a little about you…
We are a not for profit organisation dedicated to promoting gambling awareness and education for children and young adults.
How are you helping to tackle child poverty in London?
Gambling addiction affects the household in different ways, and has a ripple affect, often meaning children go without due to their parents problem gambling . On the flip side children as young as 12 are now gambling, and once you get to your teens you are in danger of ruining your future, hence why thousands of students struggle with debt and end up dropping out of university.
What concerns you currently about child poverty in London?
So there are obvious links to child poverty and serious debt, and we address this in our workshops on problem gambling, as there is a need for more education.
Share with our members something positive about your organisation’s achievement or service
We have achieved a lot in the last 3 years , and delivered to over 2500 students in London, and will continue to educate the next generation on problem gambling and the impact it has on our lives.
We are now supported by parliament and meet with labour MPs on a regular basis to see what more can be done to protect our children and young adults from ruin.
Why did you join 4in10? What do you enjoy about being part of the 4in10 network?
