New report on impact of austerity on families
Date Posted: 04/01/2012 14:48:29A report released today by the Family and Parenting Institute, commissioned from IFS shows that families with children will be hit hardest by falling incomes and changes to the tax and benefit system. Families in an Age of Austerity: January 2012 finds that the UK's poorest families will be the worst affected, and among these families those with lone parents even more so. The report also finds that the Universal Credit will weaken the incentive for a second earner in a couple to take up employment. This is of particular concern to 4in10, as we prepare to launch our campaign for better access to affordable and flexible childcare for low income parents in London.
Further information about the report can be found on the Family and Parenting Institue website. The report is also available through our resource library.
